So this is one of my holy grail products for its effectiveness. I used to suffer from heavy dandruff and I had tried so many products before this but to no avail, none of them manage to cure or reduce my dandruff and flakiness of my scalps. There are 3 types of Selsun Blue sold in Brunei's Guardian Pharmacies. The one with red cap is for itchy scalps and all hair types, the one with the green cap is for dry and damaged hair, and the one I usually go for, the purple cap one is for normal hair. I basically choose this because it's 2-in-1 with the conditioner as I'm very lazy to put on the conditioner although I also have it in my stash. I can merely count how many times I have used it, and the other reason is that, I googled some reviews saying that the other two are the harsher ones, that can make your hair frizz. I used it once a week although the packaging states that to use it twice a week. But I don't have time to dry my hair when I go to school or work.
I'd rate it: 4/5 |
Pros
- 80% effectively eradicating my dandruff (with the help of 1% of selenium sulfide present). My scalp used to flake up hours after every wash, I couldn't just run my fingers through my hairs like the models in shampoo commercials do or the flakes would fall down like snow. And if I happened to be in front of my black surfaced laptop, I could see it built up on it. Okay, disgusting, right? FYI: I clean my laptop okay... there's no way I can be that disgusting LOL
- It's nice scented. Not floral, but nice... not that medicinally scented like my previous reviewed products, although their purposes are almost the same as treatment products.
- It makes my hair smooth, still some part is frizzing, because of my lack of expertise in towel-drying and blow-drying my hair, but some part of my hair is smooth because of the conditioner.
Cons:
- It's pricey for some people, I keep repurchasing this shampoo, and I always go for the small size one, like in the picture, which costs me BND11+ each at the Guardian LOL the big one costs BND15+.
- It sometimes stung a bit on your scalp upon application.
- It doesn't eradicate 100% of your dandruff, don't be a perfectionist, girl...but it does reduce the embarrassment. At least, there won't be any flakes falling down whenever you wear dark colored clothes, for non-hijabis that is.
Will I repurchase this again?
Totally... I can't find anything that can eradicate and prevent the re-occurrence of the dandruff.
